Fire service

SleepValor for members who sleep between calls — not a readiness dashboard.

Shift work, station nights, and post-call recovery don’t look like a consumer sleep chart. SleepValor is the same Sphere / Gap Report / Experiment product — with optional member-provided duty context — so you can see one connected picture and try one informed next step.

Not medical advice. Not a diagnosis. Not apnea treatment. Not fitness-for-duty. Not a department surveillance feed.

$10/monththe ongoing subscription price, not a trial or intro rate.

Individual membership is $10/month. iPhone access is currently through TestFlight.

The usual fixes

Trackers, checklists, and house advice each see a slice.

A wearable can show what happened on a quiet night or a busy one. Sleep hygiene tips assume a schedule you don’t have. House culture may treat sleep as optional. None of that connects your labs, habits, history, and the nights you actually get.

That’s a synthesis problem — not a willpower problem.

Founder note

Built from a long personal sleep fight — not from the firehouse.

SleepValor grew out of founder Paul Petro’s twenty-year effort to get his own sleep from abysmal to much better. Paul is not a firefighter. This page is for members and departments who want a careful product conversation — not a claim that Paul has lived your schedule.

Disclosure: Paul Petro is not a firefighter and does not claim fire-service experience.

The outcome

Less guessing across duty and off-duty nights. Not a miracle metric.

One connected picture of what may be influencing your sleep — including optional tags you provide for duty, off-duty, and post-call context — and enough clarity to try one informed experiment at a time.

SleepValor does not promise fewer missed calls, lower cancer risk, guaranteed gains, readiness scores, or fitness-for-duty results.

The product

Same Sphere. Optional duty context you provide.

SleepValor brings available data into the Sphere, narrows attention with a Gap Report, and sequences one Experiment at a time — tracked against your own baseline.

  1. Connect what you already use.
  2. See gaps and patterns in one place.
  3. Optionally tag duty / off-duty / post-call nights yourself.
  4. Run one bounded experiment at a time.

Duty tags are member-provided. SleepValor does not sync live CAD or station systems.

How it works

Connect what you already use, see one Sphere, narrow gaps, then try one bounded experiment. Screens below are product visuals — not medical advice or fitness-for-duty scoring.

  1. SleepValor connect screen listing wearables, labs, and habits you can bring in

    Connect what you already use

Wearables, labs, and habits — optional, on your terms.

  2. SleepValor Sphere network linking sleep signals into one picture

See the gaps and patterns in one place

The Sphere links available signals instead of four separate opinions.

  3. SleepValor Gap Report listing prioritized open questions for today

    Narrow what’s missing

A Gap Report highlights unresolved questions — not diagnoses.

  4. SleepValor Experiment screen tracking one bounded variable against baseline

    Run one bounded experiment

Track one change against your own baseline over time.

Integrations

Wearables and labs you may already use — not a station feed.

Named sources include tools like Oura, WHOOP, 8 Sleep, and labs listed on Integrations. How each arrives — live connect versus upload — can vary by build. This marketing site does not claim live CAD, station, or house-system sync.

Experiments

One bounded next step — not a department protocol.

An Experiment is one variable to try next, tracked against your own data over time. It is not medical treatment, not a readiness drill, and not a fitness-for-duty evaluation.

  • Barracks vs home sleep (small EEG study)

Hunnicutt et al. (2024) measured sleep in 10 male career firefighters at home and in barracks. Several EEG-derived measures differed between settings, with barracks sleep described as more disturbed, and results compared poorly to age-matched normative data.

Fire service FAQ

Short answers. The rest is in the guide.

Is SleepValor medical advice or a diagnosis?

No. SleepValor is not a physician, does not diagnose, and does not treat medical conditions — including sleep apnea. Insights should be validated with your own healthcare provider before you act on them.

Is this a fitness-for-duty or readiness tool?

No. SleepValor is not a fitness-for-duty evaluation, not a readiness dashboard, and not a scoring system for duty status. Optional Scorecard questions collect shift context only as a non-diagnostic check-in.

Does SleepValor sync the station or live CAD?

No. Members may optionally tag duty, off-duty, and post-call context themselves. SleepValor does not claim live CAD, station, or house-system sync.

Can a department see member data?

Individual membership is member-owned and opt-in. The department inquiry path is a conversation request — not a house dashboard, chief feed, or surveillance product.

Is the founder a firefighter?

No. Paul Petro is not a firefighter and does not claim fire-service experience. SleepValor comes from his long personal effort to improve his own sleep through synthesis — not from claiming to have lived a firehouse schedule.

How much does it cost, and how do I get access?

Individual SleepValor is $10/month — the ongoing subscription price, not a trial or intro rate. iPhone access is currently through TestFlight. You can subscribe via Stripe Checkout, join the early-access waitlist, or take the optional Sleep Scorecard first. Department conversations use a separate inquiry form.
